Responsibilities
- Monitor daily national, regional and international media for news, trends and mentions relevant to migration and IOM activities in Venezuela
- Monitor social networks daily, with emphasis on mentions to IOM, migration topics, protection and associated trends
- Identify and track narratives affecting human mobility and reputational risks
- Analyze mentions and visibility of IOM actions
- Provide inputs for technical and management teams
- Produce a daily bulletin (Monday to Friday) with headlines, summary and links to identified news
- Issue immediate alerts when critical topics arise related to mobility, protection risks or sensitive mentions to IOM
Requirements
- Training or experience in communication, journalism, data analysis, social sciences or related fields
- Ability to identify relevant information and produce clear summaries
- Ability to handle digital monitoring tools, social media and information verification
- Ability to work with keywords and thematic classification methodologies
- Advanced Spanish (required)
- Discipline to deliver products on time and work in coordination with a remote team

Attention! Please note that this is an Online Volunteering assignment. It's a short-term, task-based and non-contractual remote assignment; Online Volunteers are not UN Volunteers and do not receive any allowance or entitlements as part of the Online Volunteer assignment but receive a certificate of appreciation after successful completion. In addition, UNV is not involved in the selection process or collaboration. Mission and objectives: Support constant monitoring of the information ecosystem of the country to strengthen decision-making, risk management, and strategic communication. Support anticipating reputational risks; identify narratives affecting human mobility; analyze mentions and visibility of IOM actions; provide inputs for technical and management teams; strengthen communication response capacity in sensitive situations. Task description: Volunteers in Line will support IOM Venezuela in daily monitoring of national, regional and international media and social networks to identify relevant news, trends and mentions about migration, temporary accommodation, protection, governance, health, WASH, and IOM activities in Venezuela, including states such as Zulia, Bolívar, Táchira, Amazonas, Caracas, Apure and Falcón. They will also support inter-agency communication groups in monitoring key news. Main deliverables: daily bulletin (Monday to Friday) with headlines, summary and links to identified news; daily social media monitoring with emphasis on mentions to IOM, migration topics, protection and associated trends; immediate alerts when critical topics emerge related to mobility, protection risks or sensitive mentions to IOM. The selected volunteer will be supervised and guided before starting. At the end of the support, the volunteer will receive a certificate of recognition; they will also receive an evaluation and an appreciation certificate emitted by UNV. Assignment details: Online volunteering; duration 12 weeks; 16-20 hours per week; host entity IOM; modality Online. Required experience: Training or experience in communication, journalism, data analysis, social sciences or related fields; ability to identify relevant information and produce clear summaries; ability to use digital monitoring tools, social media and information verification; ability to work with keywords and thematic classification methodologies; advanced Spanish (required); discipline to deliver products on time and work in coordination with a remote team. Other notes: Volunteerism is understood as activities undertaken of free will for general public good with no monetary reward as the principal motivating factor.
