Role details
Responsibilities
- Turning ambiguous problems into production systems.
- Owning outcomes, not tickets.
- Working across product, architecture, and implementation.
- Reviewing and improving AI-generated code.
- Shipping quickly without creating a maintenance disaster.
- Design systems, not just code. Research, scope, and architect solutions to difficult problems in healthcare, payments, compliance, and operations.
- Work effectively with AI-assisted development tools to rapidly prototype, implement, and refine solutions.
- Review, validate, and improve AI-generated code for correctness, maintainability, security, and long-term operability.
- Own projects from idea to production, including design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
- Improve the leverage of the entire engineering organization through tooling, automation, documentation, and process improvements.
- Build systems that are simple, durable, and understandable six months later.
- Navigate ambiguity and make pragmatic decisions that keep the company moving forward.
Requirements
- Strong Python, TypeScript, or equivalent experience.
- Strong engineering judgment.
- Strong communication skills.
- US residency.
- smart, kind, and relentlessly effective.
- able to take a rough idea, identify what’s important, make sensible tradeoffs, and turn it into a working system.
- comfortable operating with incomplete information.
- willing to make decisions when a decision is needed.
- able to use AI as a force multiplier to generate the right code quickly.
- care about shipping real value, not accumulating tickets.
- prefer ownership to handoffs, outcomes to activity, and progress to process.
- Strong Python or TypeScript skills, or deep experience in another modern programming language.
- Excellent engineering judgment.
- Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar systems and domains.
- Experience using AI coding tools effectively, or excitement about learning to do so.
- A strong bias toward shipping useful things.
